At Def Jam, he played an integral part in marketing some of the major music makers of the new millennium, including Jay Z, LL Cool J and Musiq. Biography
A new day is upon us and hip hop’s answer to the question “what happened to the female rap game” is here. Blessed with the lyrical prowess to compete with the hottest emcees in the business, as well as singing every R&B hook on their album and being touted as the female version of the Neptunes, the female Hip Hop duo KIN4LIFE is a triple threat. Together as a group for ten years and friends for over fifteen years, IQ and Nor have solidified their family ties and KIN4LIFE has never had a truer meaning.
Born and raised in Mt. Vernon, NY, a town known for its contribution to hip hop in the late 80s and early 90s, KIN4LIFE is determined to bring hip hop glory back to their hometown. KIN4LIFE has decided to put the whole female rap game on their back, and are determined to bring respect back to their genre. As young black entrepreneurs, IQ and Nor incorporated their label, Noriq (pronounced Nor-reek) Records in 2002. Under their imprint, KIN4LIFE has released 2 albums and an EP entitled, “Rock Star”. “Rock Star” is a precursor to their upcoming album, “KIN4LIFE Volume 2”, slated for national release. Single handedly they have created a buzz so loud that the international scene has come calling. With major overseas play in the UK, Italy, France, and our northern neighbor, Canada, the US market is not far behind. Not only do these women write all of their music but they produce as well. KIN4LIFE kicks off 2010 with the release of their new EP “I Love KIN4LIFE”, a tribute to all the die-hard fans that have supported the group on their journey.
KIN4LIFE admits that their first love is emceeing, but their production and songwriting skills have made them a hot commodity behind the scenes. Working with the hottest up and coming R&B acts, KIN4LIFE has garnered comparison to Missy, prompting them to form Noriq Records’ subsidiaries, Red Eye Productions and The KIN Factory (writing and production). KIN4LIFE recently showcased their talent as producers, winning the “King of the ATL” battle at the industry proving ground Producer’s Swapmeet in Atlanta. It is a promise that you will be hearing them all over your radio in the near future. IQ is quoted as saying “We put an album out with zero to no budget.” This hunger and determination will make it hard for majors to ignore, but the streets are listening, and KIN4LIFE is the answer. Visit KIN4LIFE’s website at WWW.KIN4LIFE.COM or WWW.MYSPACE.COM/KIN4LIFE and see what the fans are really saying. The major labels are afraid of change but fortunately KIN4LIFE is not afraid of a challenge.
Out of that challenge Control the Mic was born. Control the Mic allowed unsigned artists to return to the true essence of hip hop. For over a year, they promoted and hosted the most artist friendly open mic in New York City. Even now, people are still asking “when’s the next Control the Mic”. Always on the grind, KIN4LIFE switched gears in order to focus more of their attention on promoting and creating more great music for their fans and the world. If you haven’t had the pleasure of seeing these two talented females perform, you definitely need to make it your business to do so (WWW.YOUTUBE.COM/TIFFJONES820). Not only are their songs hot but their live show is electrifying and has been compared to the glory days of Run DMC. The industry has now been forewarned. Hold on because it’s going to be a crazy ride.
Biography
Nobody really knows where the boy came from except to say that he came out of left field...and he came with something quite unexpected. The truth is: Last Offence didn't expect to be in this position himself. He'd been a fan of all the greats-- Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Eminem, Outkast, Big Pun-- but he would never seriously count himself among their ranks. It wasn't until 2002 that he and a couple of his friends toyed around with a trial of a music software program that he finally put some words to paper and spit over a track. Even then, he would refer to it as "playing around...nothing serious". There was a studio recording here and there between 2002 and 2007, but in those days he went by the name "Napier" (he fancied himself the Black Joker -- the black Jack Napier) and he was nothing even remotely like the explicit and often times raunchy artist that he is today.
In 2007, Last discovered a movement that had already been well in the making. The Homorevolution Tour brought prominence to an underground gay rap scene that, until then, he'd only been vaguely familiar with. But like so many of his current counterparts making moves in 2008, it drove him to action.
Lasto first grabbed the attention of the gay hip hop scene with street singles "Truth Be Told", "Trouble" & "Don't Forget". Not one to slow down the momentum, he continued to build notoriety with impressive guest appearances on Granthm's "Head O.U.T." and Solomon's "Transformers". By the end of 2008 he'd garnered critical acclaim with his first official release: an EP entitled RUN A LAP. In early 2009, he followed up with the grittier and more urban hip-hop offering NOT FOR NON PROFIT, a mixtape comprised of mostly original material.
In the here and now, Last Offence continues working on his debut album and performing at venues across the US.
